Exminster Marshes

Very brief visit this morning between 10.00 and 10.30 and only viewed from the canal bank. A flock of 23 lapwings (32 last Tuesday) seems to have established itself and a green sandpiper flew over the fields. On the canal bank I heard one chiffchaff and saw one bullfinch (imm or f). On the canal one kingfisher. It was half tide and so few waterfowl on the lagoon; only 15 wigeon, 23 shoveller, 11 teal, 3 tufted ducks and one black swan with 6 mute swans. Coot numbers were also low - 83, I guess they make their way onto the ditches after roosting on the lagoon.
