Slapton Ley

Had a good look at the Higher Ley and around Ireland Bay this morning but no big deal.
30 Canada Geese, 43 Gadwall, 42 Mallard, 6 Shoveler, 3 Teal, 3 Wigeon, 56 Tufted Duck, 39 Pochard and 2 Goldeneye. In the trees were single Chiffchaff, Siskin and Brambling. Hardly any Great Crested Grebes and few Coot. No sign of the occasionally reported Great White Egret or Marsh Harrier. Very few gulls.
Similarly a scan up and down Slapton Sands showed no gull flocks, just 6 tired looking Golden Plover. Start Bay quiet with 2 Great Crested Grebes and a Red-throated Diver off the central car park.
