Braunton Rd, Barnstaple.

A surprise for me this morning at 08:05am was a Water Rail on my drive. My home fronts on to Braunton Road which is the busy main road into Barnstaple from the Braunton direction. It calmly walked out the frontgate on to the public footpath and set off towards town! I always thought them to be shy and retiring birds?
