Prawle
First marathon seawatch of the year - 06.30 - 17.30 (JL,PM,TM). Very productive if you like Manx Shearwaters - and who doesn't! 8500 (give or take a few) passed west, smashing the previous site record of 5000 (set in April 1998). In contrast, given the 11 hours put in, other seabird numbers were less than impressive, totalling just 157 Gannets, 108 Fulmars, 86 Kittiwakes, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 1 Common Gull and 59 Razorbill/Guillemots. Welcome variety was provided by 12 Common Scoters, Red-breasted Merganser, 6 Bar-tailed Godwits, 12 Sandwich Terns, 8 Puffins and an unidentified Diver. No Skuas though!
