Soar, Fri 14/10/11

A great day with plenty of movement from dawn (some lasting into the afternoon so numbers likely to be an under-estimate). What a difference a SE wind makes!

Mainly going East, 0700-1030: Linnet 575; Meadow Pipit 465; Alba Wagtail 60; Swallow 130; Siskin 140; Chaffinch 160; Goldfinch 80; Skylark 345; Reed Bunting 2; Starling 10; Redpoll 8; Yellowhammer 6; House Martin 4.

Also: Ring Ouzel 9 (6 Bolt Head / Stare Hole & 3 West Soar / Soar Mill); Dartford Warbler 1 (Bolt Head); Yellow-browed Warbler 1 (East Soar Willows); Goldcrest 7; Bullfinch 3; Chiffchaff 8 (including one abientinus type); Firecrest 1 (West Soar).

I notice different people are posting "Redpoll" or "Lesser Redpoll" for fly overs. Is anyone specifically identifying the latter (which undoubtedly most if not are are)? Any thoughts on consistency in the way these are reported?
