Exminster Marshes
Warm, sunny and chiffchaffs singing - it did not feel like October. Cettis calling from close to the railway line and about 6 chiffchaffs seen. At Turf a single wheatear and a jay. On the main marshes a further 6 wheatears, c20 linnets and a single flock of 20 siskins flew over going west. On the lagoon wildfowl numbers are increasing; c200 wigeon, c50 teal, a few mallard and almost 100 coot. Otherwise the only other bird of interest was a black swan on the lagoon and another flying towards Topsham (there were 2 yesterday on the canal).
