R.Taw off Pottington Ind Est and Bradiford Reserve

10:40 to 12:00.

A stroll down the Tarka Trail from the Taw Bridge to Bradiford Water/Reserve produced good numbers of Lapwing; Oystercatcher; Mallard; Redshank; Shelduck; Herring, Common, Black-headed and Lesser-black backed Gulls.

Approx 120 Carrion Crows were on the sand and mud banks just downstream of the bridge.

5 Little Grebe were feeding near the Swing Bridge by the Civic Centre.

Just off Pottington a female Goldeneye floated down river but soon took flight and flew back up the river towards Barnstaple.

There were 6 Gadwall on the pond in Bradiford Reserve plus c12 Wigeon and 8 Teal.

Between Pottington and Penhill Marsh were at least 500-600 Dunlin; c1000 Lapwing; 22 Sanderling; 4 Bar-tailed Godwit; 43 Grey Plover and 20 Dark-bellied Brent.
