Powderham & Exminster Marshes

Above is a view of the Exminster Canal just north of the canalside car park. This small area is still ice free and holding at least 88 Gadwall, 3 Pochard, 17 Tufted Ducks and one Little Grebe. A redhead Goosander flew south overhead.
The finch flock on RSPB's land on Powderham Marshes still includes over 500 Brambling. The numbers of Chaffinchs and Linnets appeared to have reduced but it was hard to count the birds as they had fragmented into smaller flocks probably due to the constant attention from sparrowhawks. There was a single flock of 80 Skylarks and although I heard a probable Lapland Bunting within this flock I failed to locate the bird.
