Exminster Marsh

A brief visit at lunch time coincided with a high tide. Roosting waders at Turf included 2 Avocets and 20 Black-tailed Godwits. The male Snow Bunting showed well on the path to the jetty. Overhead a single Spoonbill flew north and did not appear to land on the marshes. Hundreds of Redwings but fewer Fieldfares but the number of Black Birds appeared to have increased. It was interesting and slightly puzzling to see ice forming on the estuary but not on the canal. A Kingfisher by the car park livened up a bleak grey and bitterly cold landscape.
