Bittern, Braunton Marsh.

It was reported that a Bittern was seen to land in the small reedbed adjacent to the Toll Road, Braunton Marsh, just past the Toll House, during the morning of Tuesday 14th December. A Bittern was also reported on Birdguides on 4th December having been seen nearby on Sherpa Marsh. The bird was seen again in the afternoon of the 14th, adjacent to the Toll Rd but nearer to the Great Sluice. It was disturbed by wildfowlers shooting on Horsey Island and was seen to fly over the bank by Crossbanks towards Chivenor.
After a 2hr search of the area from 10:00 to 12:02 today, I saw the bird fly into the same small reedbed next to the Toll Road from the direction of Sherpa. Although the reed bed is only small and within yards of the Toll Road, it was impossible to see it once it got in among the reeds.
