During a training exercise for colleagues about waterbird ID & ecology we managed to note the following as well as the expected waterfowl & waders:
1 Brambling at Turf, calling frequently then heading north.
500+ Woodpigeon in the small copse next to the railway crossing overlooking Shutterton Creek
a colour-marked Redshank around Turf (a Dutch-ringed bird I last saw at the same spot in Nov 2005)
Probably also the first time I've walked past a major rarity and not stopped to look - weird feeling!
